Gerald E. MacDonald, Jr.: Mr. MacDonald, a native Beaconite, was a U.S. Navy Veteran who enlisted on July 4, 1944, completing training in Bainbridge, MD, Gulfport, MS, and San Francisco, CA. He served aboard the USS YMS 118, USS Fentress, and the USS Proserpine ultimately serving in the Philippines. His service awards included the American Theater Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Medal, the Philippine Liberation Medal and Victory Medal. He survived a bout with TB for just over a year at that time in the VAMC at Castle Point. He was a proud Life Member of the Disabled Veterans of America, Chapter #144 (based at Castle Point VAMC) up until his death
Charles L. Haug, resided in Beacon from 1949 until his death in 1960. Photo attached. He served in the U.S. Army from 05 Jun 1942 with the 23rd Infantry Division (AMERICAL) during WW2, shifting on 05 Apr 1946 to the Quartermaster Corps as an Army reservist until 01 Apr 1953. He grew up in Nashua, N.H., and married Doris Lynch in Beacon on 27 Dec 1947.

James J. Lynch, served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army during WW1. He was a lifelong resident of Beacon, last residing at 17 Talbot Ave. He built many homes and structures in Beacon, was owner and operator of the Lynch Dutchess Lumber Co., and Chairman of the Board of the Fishkill National Bank. The attached photo shows him holding a young girl in France during the war.
James C Haug served in the U.S. Navy from 1971 to 1991. Enlisting as a Navy Reservist in the Bronx after finishing college in NYC in June 1970, I later transferred to active duty in Oct. 1971, serving in both the Supply Corps and Civil Engineer Corps until retiring on 1 Nov 1991.
Paul C Haug served in the U.S. Air Force from 1975 to 1980 and 1987 to 2004. Enlisted in the U. S. Air Force during my senior year at Beacon High School. After graduation and some summer vacation I entered service in August 1975. Served in Logistics providing fuel support to aircraft, military vehicles and equipment. Last 13 years was acting Fuels Superintendent at Stewart ANGB, Newburgh, NY in support of the C5A and KC-130T aircrafts.
