Grab the popcorn! It’s our second annual movie night! Join us for a fun fundraiser on April 29 at 7:00 p.m. with a short talk and the showing of 1945’s “They Were Expendable,” considered one of the greatest films of WWII and starring Beacon’s own Robert Montgomery. Born in Fishkill Landing on May 21, 1904, Montgomery starred in more than 60 movies and also served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, rising to the rank of lieutenant commander. (Could that be an Aero Leather coat he is wearing?) We thank the Veterans of our Memorial Building for inviting us to use their Hall for our event, which will include light hors d’oeuvres and libations. Suggested donation is $50 per person, and you can pay at the door. But be sure to reserve your spots by emailing us no later than April 25 at BeaconHistorical@gmail.com so that we can plan accordingly. All are welcome – as are sponsors. Please email us if you can help with a $500 or $1,000 donation to be recognized that evening and in our promotions! We appreciate your generous support.
