HISToRICAL WALKING TOURS
The Jewish Beacon History Walk app pulls from BHS’s archives and oral histories to tell the story of Jewish enterprise and the evolution of Beacon’s Main Street. The walking tour app will launch April 1, and enable users to learn about former Jewish businesses on Main Street that added to Beacon’s vibrancy, commerce and daily life.
This project is made possible, in part, by the Irving and Gloria Schlossberg Family Fund and the Sadie Jane Effron Cahn Beacon Hebrew Alliance Endowment of the Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley.
BE A PART OF BEACON’S LIVING HISTORY: VOLUNTEER FOR THE TOUR COMMITTEE!
History comes to life through the Beacon Historical Society Tour Committee. Our walking tours combine storytelling and live actors, giving Beacon's ghosts a voice once again in a fun, entertaining, informative, and educational presentation. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS who can contribute their talents of acting, sponsorship, marketing, staging, costumes, rehearsals, etc.
Our volunteers have had a lot of fun working on our tours, but a good tour needs a hardworking team! The more the merrier!!
