Last year, our Society was grateful to receive from the estate of Beacon native Patrick Prosser dozens of black-and-white photos taken in Beacon nearly half a century ago. The images were first displayed at the Art Gallery at SUNY New Paltz, where Patrick earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Titled “Work in Decay – The City of Beacon, New York,” the display was also mounted at the Howland Cultural Center back in 1982. We have now loaned the photos to the Howland Cultural Center, which will again exhibit them weekends from April 19 until July 20. The Howland Center is open Saturdays and Sundays 1-5 p.m. at 477 Main Street. We will also display several of the photos related to Mount Beacon at our headquarters at 61 Liberty Street. Please stop by during our open hours.
