Bill Jeffway, Executive Director of the Dutchess County Historical Society, and Melodye Moore, trustee and collections committee chair at DCHS examine women’s right to vote, and Dutchess County and Beacon’s unique role in early feminist actions. A special focus of the presentation will be on Caroline Morgan Clowes of LaGrange, a highly successful painter of local Dutchess County scenes, who was featured prominently at the 1876 US Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia.
